This Newtown Icon is a Historic Place, Category 1 listed, mixed use commercial and residential building.

This project by Inside Design required I-beam replacement, which supported the entire building.  The building which remained occupied on the upper levels throughout construction needed temporary propping under supervision from Sylvester/Clark Engineering.

Alongside structural upgrades, additional work included new balconies and doors to the upper level apartments, canopy replacement and re-building the curve at the northern end of the canopy.

Located on a busy intersection of one of Wellington’s busiest urban hubs, this high-traffic site required robust traffic management plans and pedestrian safety measures.

The heritage nature of the building meant we needed to ensure the heritage integrity remained … basically it should look like we we’re never there.

We are proud of having left no footprints here and have enjoyed being a part of the Newtown community and supporting the historical and cultural amenity of this vibrant urban suburb.
